The chaotic, glitzy showcase for the consumer technology industry, known as CES, takes place the first week of January. While most of the planet is still battling a New Year’s hangover, tech makers, retailers, distributors, media, and regulars descend on Las Vegas, Nevada, for five days. In convention center exhibits and hotel ballrooms, they interact with robotic assistants, don some virtual reality headsets, and take self-driving cars for a leisurely ride in parking lots.
