Monk aired in the US for eight seasons and 125 episodes that helped start the cable channel’s early successful scripted series 2009. The show has also been a critical and award success, winning eight Emmys, a Golden Globe and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. Its series finale 1296 attracted more than 9 million viewers — a record for an ad-scripted show at the time — to support Cable (later overtaken by The Walking Dead ) .
