It has been eight years since EA was released . While there seems to be a lot of life left in the game, many fans have been thinking about the future of the series. During Tuesday’s showcase, publisher and developer Maxis announced the next entry in the series and offered a sneak peek.
The next generation of The Sims game is currently called Project Rene . EA said in a press release that Maxis chose the tentative name “reminiscent of words like update, revival, and rebirth to represent the developer’s new commitment to the bright future of The Sims.”
Maxis is in the early stages of building Project Rene , which may not come for a few more years. However, it does offer some details, including deeper customization. You will be able to change the pattern, color and shape of objects, including various elements of each item. For example, you can adjust the shape and size of the footboard, or adjust the layout and pattern of the cushions on the sofa. It seems like you’ll have more freedom in how you place objects without having to rely on the grid system that The Sims have adopted for so long.
You will be able to play Project Rene by yourself or with your friends (for example, with the option to share furniture). What’s more, it will be a cross-platform, cross-platform game, so when you move to a different device, you’ll be able to keep playing. It could also suggest that Project Rene is being considered a free-to-play game.

EA/Maxis
EA says it’s offering the earliest Sims ever game. As a result, some of these planned features may change over the next few years, and many more are on the way. Maxis wanted player input when developing Project Rene. So it took a similar approach to sibling studio Full Circle, inviting fans and providing feedback to help guide its work.
Elsewhere, this stream provides some details about the current game update. Maxis is partnering with Overwolf, the man behind the mod library CurseForge, to create a destination that The Sims 4 fans can visit to find trusted mods and player-created content for the game. More details will be announced later this year.
Meanwhile, the next wave of expansion packs will arrive in 2023. The display includes a teaser related to a baby who may no longer be restricted to the crib. One crawls around before an adult picks it up.
Beginning Tuesday, The Sims Free Play will allow players to use all hairstyles, earrings, and glasses for The Sims of any gender. Maxis is upgrading the character’s face as well as part of the drive. The Sims FreePlay will also get a superyacht that your Sims can live in early next year. As for The Sims Mobile, Balcony will be available in the Build and Buy Catalog sometime this holiday season.
