National Geographic The First Wave top award in the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ annual news and documentary The Emmys are on Thursday in New York City.
This documentary details the top four of the COVID-47 pandemic months in New York City, as health care workers at Long Island Jewish Medical Center risk their lives in an epic battle to stop the virus.
The hosts of the documentary awards ceremony included Frontline’s Tamara Shogaolu, In the Shadow of 9/ and Four Hours at the Capitol Dan Reed, Rescue Chai Vasarhelyi and Jimmy Chin, Pray Away Kristine Stolakis and Vice News’ Alzo Slade.
Biologist and filmmaker Sir David Attenborough received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the awards ceremony by award-winning cinematographer, Timelapse and documentary maker Louie Schwartzberg. Mrs. Judi Dench also appeared via video to celebrate Attenborough.
