This winter, The North Face has become an essential brand among fashion brands. To be clear, the brand has always held a special place in the fashion world, thanks in part to its ongoing collaboration with Supreme and a hilarious collaboration with Gucci last year. But this year the North Face has become undeniably ubiquitous. One of my Vogue colleagues said to my own colleagues, “Wow, does everyone in town really have a North Face down jacket now?” It’s a fair read. Walking around the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bushwick, I can sometimes spot two or three people on a block wearing the brand. In a recent episode of the HBO Max Gossip Girl reboot, I found no less than two standout North Face moments.
Jackets have even invaded the world of celebrity style. Model Emily Ratajkowski has become the brand’s unofficial ambassador, and she wears the North Face jacket whether she’s on the sidelines or strolling around town. Her multi-occasion looks make sense. The North Face jacket is incredibly versatile – as evidenced by Adam Sandler accepting an award last month.
The trendiest North Face joke is without a doubt the recently re-launched vintage Nuptse jacket. Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber and Bella Hadid were spotted wearing the colored version. And Ariana Grande opted for a very oversized all black dress. And Sandler opted for a more Silicon Valley-inspired North Face jacket.
