The Gordon Parks Foundation’s annual gala was a hit. Last night at Cipriani 42nd Street, the nonprofit brought together art lovers and political activists to celebrate the foundation’s legacy and honor this year’s honorees, including the esteemed The Angela Y. Davis Foundation is known for its influence and commitment to uplifting so many changemakers through the arts, and this year was no exception.
Winners include Amy Sherald, Clara Wu Tsai, Crystal McClary, Raymond McGuire and Kate Clark Harris. “Each of our honorees has changed the face of society in civil and human rights, the arts, education, and philanthropy. Each has helped advance areas that Gordon Parks cares deeply about. Each embodies Parks’ inspiration for future generations commitment,” Kunhardt shared. . Kunhardt, Jr., Executive Director, Gordon Parks Foundation. The festivities began with a performance by Anthony Morgan’s Inspirational Choir of Harlem and ended with music from DJ D-Nice. The room was filled with familiar faces, making the occasion joyful – Spike Lee, Devon Allen, Joan Ambrose, Mara Brock Akil, Rasheed Johnson, Joe Il Bada$$ and Dapper Dan, both dressed to impress. As of the evening, the foundation had raised more than $2 million to further its social justice work through the arts.
