Williams previously cited Woods as the reason she continued to play professional tennis.
“He’s one of the reasons I’m here and one of the main reasons I’m still playing,” she told reporters ( h/t CNN’s George Ramsay).
“We talked a lot. He really wanted me to be motivated. There were a few people, but we Like: ‘Okay, we can do it together, you know?'” William, 40 James fought over Tomljanovic 5-7, 7-6(4), 1-6 in a match that lasted more than three hours.
