) Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has apologized for using anti-gay language in an Instagram video.
Edwards shared a clip (WARNING: Video contains Anti-gay language and racial slurs) went to Instagram Stories and commented on a group of guys saying, “Look at these weird ass.”
He responded quickly to the comment, describing his remarks as “immature, hurtful and offensive”.
Anthony [email protected]_ What I said was immature, hurtful, rude, and very sorry. It is unacceptable for me or anyone to use this language in such a harmful way, there is no excuse at all. My growth is better than that!
Star Tribune Chris Hine of noted that Bennett could be fined based on past precedent. Most recently, the NBA fined Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant $50,000 in April 2021 after actor Michael Rapoport shared screenshots detailing Durant’s aggressiveness towards him and derogatory remarks.
Looking further ahead, Rajon Rondo and Kobe Bryant fined for using anti-gay slur in game .
Edwards is entering his third season in the NBA. The 21-year-old is averaging 21.3 points and 3.8 assists in 72 games in 2021-22.
