Time is running out to apply for these valuable small business grants

September was a fresh start for many. Whether you love the changeable weather or are excited for the back-to-school season, it can breathe new life into startups and small businesses. The grants also provide necessary funding for small businesses looking to grow by the end of the year. If you’re ready to improve your business this fall, here are some grants due in September.

Akron ARPA Grants

The City of Akron, Ohio is supporting eligible small businesses with a new grant program. Eligible businesses can apply for a one-time grant of $10,000. Funding for the program comes from the city’s $1 million grant from the American Rescue Program Act. The Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce will oversee the program and administer the grant. Applications are now available online and the deadline is September 2.

Coalition for Black Business

American Express and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation are once again teaming up to provide grants under the Coalition for Black Business. The program is currently accepting applications for its 2022-23 funding round. Eligible Black-owned businesses can apply for a $5,000 grant to support long-term growth. The application deadline is September 6.

Downtown St. Cloud Construction Recovery Grant Program

St. The City of Cloud, Minnesota is providing grants to support downtown businesses in the city impacted by recent construction projects. Grants provide up to $1,000 in funding per business for a total of $50,000 allocated to the program. This is the third phase of New York City’s COVID grant program to help local businesses impacted by the pandemic and other recent challenges. To be eligible, businesses must be located in the entertainment district, which includes the area between 9th and 13th streets and between Florida and Massachusetts Avenues. September 15 is the application deadline, but the program may be extended if funding is still available.

Glasgow Pandemic Recovery Grant

Glasgow, KY is donating to support businesses forced to close during the COVID-19 pandemic. One-time grants, up to $10,000 per business, are funded from the city’s allocated US Rescue Program Act funds. Taxable grant funds are available for rent, mortgages, utilities, wages and personal protective equipment. To qualify, businesses must have been classified as non-essential businesses and have been forced to close or reduce operations as a result of the Governor’s 2020 Executive Order. Businesses must also have a physical store in Glasgow. The application deadline is September 16.

Hawaii Energy EmPOWER Grant Program

Hawaii Energy is now accepting applications for the 2022-2023 EmPOWER Grant Program. The program supports nonprofits, small businesses, and restaurants that make energy-efficient upgrades. Grants can provide up to $5,000 per business to cover up to 100% of eligible projects. These include upgrades such as HVAC system replacement, LED lighting installation and the purchase of Energy Star commercial kitchen appliances. The application deadline for the program is September 30.

Montgomery County Small Business Rent Assistance Grant Program

Montgomery County, Maryland is offering a second round of funding through its Small Business Rent Assistance Grant Program . Eligible businesses can apply for up to $10,000. The funding round will support specific types of businesses, including gift shops, specialty stores and small gyms. Companies in other industries, such as food service, are not eligible. Additionally, those who have already received funding through the first round of the program are not eligible. This round of financing totals $2 million, double the previous round. September 30 is the deadline for applications.

Incfile Fresh Start Business Grant

Business software provider Incfile offers start-up grants through its Fresh Start Business Grant program. person provides $2,500 to help cover business formation costs. The winner will also receive free formation services from Incfile. This is a multi-round program. The next deadline is September 30. Incfile also offers small business grants for student entrepreneurs through September 30.
