The Tennessee Titans announced Saturday that wide receiver Trelon Burks was placed on the injured reserve with a toe injury. Continued IR means the rookie will miss at least four weeks. Burks suffered a foot injury during the game and was later diagnosed with turf toe. The Titans beat the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4. Tennessee selected the 22-year-old Wolverine with the 18th overall pick in the 2022 draft. It’s an option to help fill the void left by compatriot AJ Brown who was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in the offseason. The Arkansas product recorded 10 catches in 4 appearances during his first NFL campaign Ball for 129 yards and no touchdowns. Robert Woods will be the Titans’ No. 1 receiving target when the rookie is out. Kyle Philips and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine lead the team’s other options at this position. Josh Gordon is also likely to be drafted from the training class.
Burks’ career got off to a sluggish start before his injury, but he has what it takes to eventually become the Titans’ true No. 1 receiver All tools. Staying healthy will be an important part of the equation.
