Tobias Menzies will join Brad Pitt at Apple The Formula 1 movie, The Hollywood Reporter has been confirmed.
Kerry Condon and Damson Idris were earlier announced to appear in the film’s Untitled Joseph Kosinski, the team behind Top Gun: Maverick , the feature film, will direct and produce alongside Jerry Bruckheimer. Maverick co-writer Ehren Kruger will pen the screenplay.
Menzies is credited for playing Prince Philip in Netflix’s The Crown Winner of an Emmy Award, will play an undisclosed role, Apple said Friday. Menzies also counts Starz’s Outlander, HBO’s Game of Thrones and AMC’s horror in his credits. He’s currently in theaters with A in You Hurt My Feelings, with Julia Louis-Dreyfus opposite. He is represented in the UK by WME and Conway Van Gelder Grant
He will be starring as Edwin Stanton in the upcoming Apple TV+ Manhunt From writer/producer Monica Beletsky, period drama about the hunt for John Wilkes Booth after the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.
Formula 1 star Pete plays a former driver returning to the sport. Condon will act as the team’s technical director, overseeing the design and development of the complex race car.
In addition to Bruckheimer and Kosinski, producers include Chad Oman and Lewis Hamilton’s Dawn Apollo for the banner, while Copper CEO Penni Thow serves as executive producer. Apple is currently working with Pitt and his Plan B Entertainment on a Jon Watts-directed film featuring him and George Clooney together.
The Formula 1 film will be shown in theaters and exclusively on the Apple TV+ platform at least days prior to departure. Tech giants, including Killers of the Flower Moon heading to Cannes and Ridley Scott’s Napoleon
Being an upcoming movie, the gearing up has been gearing up for more releases in theaters.
