No. Tokyo International Film Festival nominated famous stage and film director Julie Taymor chairs the jury for its main competition. Taymor will be the festival’s third consecutive female jury president, following French screen icons Isabelle Huppert and 2019 Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi (due to the pandemic, the festival did not hold a competition at 2020.
Taymor is probably best known internationally for his hugely successful stage music version The Lion King director), in 25 multiple cities continuously 25 year 20 countries. Tokyo Music Festival President Hiroyasu Ando emphasized Taymor’s ties to Japan in announcing the appointment.
“Miss. Taymor has directed not only musicals, but many excellent films,” he said, adding: “She has a particularly strong connection to Japan, where she was Studied Ningyo joruri traditional puppet show and later applied it to his own work.”
