Tom Cruise Saw 'The Flash'…and He Loved It (Exclusive)

A conversation with Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav led to a private screening for Cruise at his Beverly Hills home.

Upcoming superhero movie flash already done and locked for months as it waits for 6 months 16 released. It has a lot of fans at the studio, including new DC co-head James Gunn, who called it “Probably one of the greatest superhero movies of all time.”

Now, it has a fan outside the studio walls: actors, superstars, and movie protectors Tom Cruise.

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter Cruise saw the movie and liked it so much that he grimly called its director, Andy Muschietti, to rave about it.

In late February, according to multiple sources, Cruise and Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav , during which the mogul mentioned how great the movie was. Cruise, curiously piqued, then asked to see it. Zaslav acquiesced to the request and sent a copy of the film to Cruise.

But, as insiders say, this is no random messenger. A Warners employee took the film to Cruise’s home in Beverly Hills, where he stayed until the cast finished watching

The Flash . It’s unclear what format Cruise was watching, digital or film. When Cruise was finished, the film was returned to the courier, who returned it to the studio.

Cruise was intrigued by what he saw and soon contacted Muschietti. For the director, it was a call that came out of the blue. Cruise is said to be full of praise for the movie, to the effect that Flash is “Everything you could want in a movie” and “this is the kind of movie we need right now,” according to the insider.

Cruise has become a movie and theater booster lately. “You saved Hollywood’s ass, you probably saved theatrical release,” Steven Spielberg told the cast during an exchange at an academy luncheon, which was was included in the video and went viral. He’s referring to Cruise pushing to keep Top Gun: Maverick Being in theaters instead of streaming doesn’t just help push movies to $1. Billion Dollar Box Office revenue, but also helped spark a movie revival last spring and summer.

And at , at the height of the pandemic, the actor posted a video of him being there Drive across London to see Christopher Noah Lan’s purpose . His enthusiastic comment on “I love it!” has become a meme for movie buffs on social media.

Cruise was richly rewarded for his dedication to the theatrical experience. His Maverick is said to have bring him $730 million.

The FlashStar Ezra Miller as DC’s Scarlet Speedster. The Miller-led cast includes Michael Keaton returning to the role of Batman. Ben Affleck is also expected to return to his Batman role.

The film has had a long road to the silver screen, with multiple director changes even though Miller remained on board over the years. Recently, Miller faced personal issues threatens the production and distribution of the film.

But the long road is drawing to a close. Warners is so bullish on it that it will show the full movie for theater owners at CinemaCon in April, nearly two months ahead of its release date.
