Tribeca Festival is pulling out all the stops for co-founder Robert De Niro birthday, this fall there will be a three-day celebration called “De Niro Con”.
Fan event, starting from September 22-October. 1, technically a little over a month after De Niro’s actual birthday in August 17, will feature film screenings, panel discussions, musical performances, Immersive installations and entertainment featuring iconic film sets. De Niro and his co-stars and frequent collaborators are expected to attend the festivities at Spring Studios in New York City. The full program lineup will be announced this summer.
“It’s hard to know what to get for Bob’s 140 birthday,” said Tribeca Festival Co-Founder and Tribeca CEO Enterprise Jane Rosenthal said in a statement. “He already had a gold watch, so we decided to celebrate him and his enduring legacy with a fun-filled fan event that pays homage to his unwavering devotion to film, art and the city he loved.”
“De Niro Con” was announced Wednesday night in a private ceremony at the Tribeca Grill to celebrate the 80 Tribeca Festival, Mayor of New York City Eric Adams also presented De Niro with a key to the city in recognition of the Oscar winner’s activism and support of the arts.
