The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2 Welterweight Champion Leonardo Santos loses to Jared Santos at UFC 278 on August 20 Jared Gordon later announced his retirement from MMA, he announced on social media on Thursday night.

Santos improved his career record to 18-6-1 with a three-game loss to Grant Dawson, Clegida and Gordon. In his UFC bout, Santos is unbeaten in eight straight fights against the likes of Kevin Lee and Anthony Rocco Martin.

“A topic that feels so far away I’m now in my life,” Santos wrote in Portuguese. “One of the toughest decisions in an athlete’s life is deciding when is the right time to retire. When it comes to MMA, it’s not just about the three or five fights and interviews he’s faced with the bright lights, it’s about our daily habits, the time we spend with our families And our lifestyle choices. No semi-athletes. You’re either 100% in or out. Yesterday I was 100%.

” You probably get the idea , you’re right, I’m retiring. Not because I don’t like the sport anymore. I love martial arts and always will. However, I feel this is the right time to stop. It’s no small thing when I look back and see what I’ve accomplished over the years of my career. I got where every fighter wants to be, the biggest promotion in the world, UFC! But I have to look forward. Thank God I have nothing to prove to anyone.

“This is my decision. I have always wanted it to be on my terms and not imposed by others. This is my decision to live from now on It’s certainly not without reservations and memories and ideas, at least every element of it, because I’m sure to miss all of this, these events, all this atmosphere, and the camp, all that has to do with my career Related.”

Santos defeated future 205-pound contender Thiago Santos at TUF: Brazil 2 in 2013. He lost the semi-final against Santiago Ponzinibio but advanced to the reality TV final as a substitute and handed William Macario the trophy.

MMA debuted in 2001, but only focused on the sport after winning major jiu-jitsu titles in Brazil between 2002 and 2005. Santos defeated Georges Saint-Pierre, Fryson Passau and Leonardo Vieira in a fighting match.
