WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Senate will open at 1:00 p.m. GMT 45 p.m. (1745 to hold a vote) to pass a bill to extend government funding through December 16 and avoid a partial government shutdown that would otherwise begin on Saturday when existing funding expires.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced the vote. Passage in the Senate would bring the bill to the House of Representatives for action before a midnight deadline on Friday.
