Ukraine receives $1.5 billion in new financial aid, PM says

Kyiv (Reuters) – Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmikhal on Saturday thanked the United States for its support after Ukraine received a further $1.5 billion in international financial aid.

“Ukrainian state budget receives $1.5 billion grant. This is the last $4.5 billion in aid from the US, from @WorldBank Trust ,” Shmyhal tweeted.

He said the funds would be used to repay budget expenditures for pension payments and social assistance programmes.
