Production company 2018 formed in September by producers Dominic Buchanan and Bennett McGhee Home Team has partnered with UniversalInternational Studios (UIS), a division of Comcast’s NBCUniversal Universal Studios Corporation.
“The exclusive agreement will see Home Team work with UIS to develop and produce premium television projects for the UK and global markets, with an intentional focus on supporting underrepresented creatives, new voices and Breakthrough screen talent,” said the companies. “Home Team and UIS will jointly curate a series of programming across genres.”
Projects mentioned in Wednesday’s deal announcement include
Flick, by Emilie Robson ( Moonlight on Leith – Edinburgh Fringe 2018), described as “part exploration of female friendship, part harrowing exploration set on the coast of northeast England, and a period fantasy series about Yaa Asantewaa, warrior queen of the Ashanti Empire.” by Kara Smith (Anansi Boys, The Baby Co-Created, Black Cake), Rienkje Attoh (You Don’t Know Me, Noughts + Crosses) and McGhee, according to the show description, “a series that interweaves action, magic, and drama.” Smith also serves as a screenwriter for the project, which The project will be produced by Attoh’s company, So & So Productions.
