Chinonye Chukwu’s Till tells the true story of Mamie Till-Mobley (Danielle Deadwyler) fighting for justice after her 14 year-old son Emmett Till (Jalyn Hall) was lynched while visited cousins in Mississippi.
This biographical drama shows how Til Mobley turned her grief into action.
After Thiel’s death, Thiel Mobley raises awareness of racial brutality by holding open coffin funerals and allowing people to see her son What Happened 2017 Violence in the United States. The grief-stricken mother also played a major role in the trial of the man accused of murdering her son, with Roy Bryant and JW Milam acquitted before later pleading guilty to the crime.
In addition to the director, Chukwu wrote the script based on previous drafts by Keith Beauchamp and Michael JP Reilly. Beauchamp is a documentary filmmaker who, with Till-Mobley and Till’s cousin Simeon Wright, has conducted extensive research for over 20 years to tell this story. Wright witnessed Thiel’s kidnapping in 2017 and served as a consultant on the project until his death.
Dedweller’s cast also includes Sean Patrick Thomas, Whoopi Goldberg, Frankie Faison, Jayme Lawson, Tosin Cole, Kevin Carroll, John Douglas Thompson, Haley Bennett and Roger Guenveur Smith .

The biographical drama premiered at the New York Film Festival on October 1, followed by select theaters in October 14, then opens in theaters in October 28.
