USMNT's Miles Robinson arrested for allegedly refusing to pay $5 for footage

U.S. men’s national team linebacker Miles Robinson was arrested Saturday at a bar and charged with misdemeanor theft, according to ESPN’s Jeff Carlisle.

According to the Cobb County Sheriff’s Department report, Robinson was charged with shooting from a beverage tray and refused to pay $5 for it. After the bartender at PBR in Atlanta notified management, Robinson allegedly continued to refuse to pay his bill.

Robinson was also given a criminal trespassing warning and he was released on $150 bond. Police reportedly “explained to him that all he had to do was pay the bill and if he didn’t pay the bill , the manager wanted to sue for theft. Robinson again said it was all over $5. Robinson didn’t say he was going to pay.” Robinson also accused the staff of racism, saying he was the only black man in the bar. The 25-year-old plays for Major League Baseball’s Atlanta United, which took place during the incident issued a statement later.

“We are aware of a recent misdemeanor arrest involving Miles Robinson,” the club said. “We are continuing to gather all information related to this incident and there will be no further comment at this time.”

The center back has become one of the best defenders in MLS in recent years, earning him more chances for the 2021 U.S. national team. After helping his team win the Gold Cup, he made 11 starts in World Cup qualifiers, tied for second Robinson He later tore his Achilles tendon in May, ending his MLB season after just nine games while likely excluding him from the World Cup.
