Vegas Golden Knights sign forward Phil Kessel to one-year deal

VEGAS(August 24, 2022) – Vegas Golden Knights General Manager Kelly McCrimmon Today, 8 On March 24, it was announced that the team had signed forward Phil Kessel to a one-year contract with an average annual value of $1,500,000.

As a two-time Stanley Cup champion (2015-16, 2016-17), Kessel scored 956 points in 1,204 career NHL games (399 G, 557 A) . He ranks eighth among all players appearing in the 2021-22 professional game and ranks 10th in career scoring. He’s one goal short of becoming the 13th American-born player to score 400 goals in the NHL. Kessel has played in 982 consecutive NHL games, the longest winning streak and seven games away from tying Keith Yandle’s all-time record of 989. The 34-year-old spent 16 seasons with the Boston Bruins (2006-09), Toronto Maple Leafs (2009-15), Pittsburgh Penguins (2015-19) and Arizona Coyotes (2019-19) twenty two). In Arizona’s 2021-22 season, Kessel led the Wolves with 44 assists, the highest total since Pittsburgh’s 2018-19 season. In the playoffs, Kessel played in a total of 96 games. The forward led the Penguins in scoring with 22 points (10 G, 12 A) in the 2016 Stanley Cup playoffs. Internationally, the Madison, Wisconsin native has represented the United States in 3 IIHF World Championships (2006, 2007, 2008) and two Winter Olympics (2010, 2014).
