Venice Film Festival by holding the 79 “Ukraine Day” of the Venice Festival.
Ukraine Day is planned for Thursday, September 8, with a series of initiatives focused on the plight of Ukrainian artists and filmmakers in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February and its ongoing war of aggression. The event will be held from am 10 am to 1 pm local time under the auspices of the Venice Production Bridge Industrial Division at the Lido Excelsior.
Alberto Barbera, Artistic Director of the Venice Film Festival, will present the opening panel, which will include the Ukrainian Ambassador to Italy, Jaroslav Melnik; Director of the National Film Academy of Ukraine, Marie Na Kudchuk; Antonio Lukich, Ukrainian director of Luxembourg Luxembourg, which will be screened this year at the Orizzonti section of the competition in Venice; Evgeny Afineevsky, Director of Out of Competition Documentary Freedom on Fire: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom ; Pavlo Makov, Venice 59 Artists participating in the Ukrainian Pavilion of the Art Biennale; Boris Filonenko, Director of the Ukrainian Pavilion; Polina Tolmacheva, Representative of the Ukrainian State Film Support Committee; Daria Tregubova, actress, film producer and Ukrainian cultural commissioner; and Ukrainian producer Andriy Nogin.
The presentation will focus on the challenges filmmakers face in this war-torn country, as well as cooperation between Ukraine and Italy, including co-production opportunities.
After the panel discussion, several Ukrainian projects in various stages of development and production will be presented, aiming to connect Ukrainian filmmakers with international Producers and financiers.
10 Venice Film Festival will be held in August 31 – September. .
