National Geographic Documentary Snatch Venice Festival Documentary Bobi Wine: Ghetto President will bring this movie to the world.
Directed by Christopher Sharp and Moses Boyau, this documentary follows the career and life of Robert Chiagulani, who Famously, Afro-beat pop star Bobby Wayne has used his fame – and music – to focus on corruption in his home country. Since he entered politics — Wine ran for president last year, challenging the authoritarian leadership of Ugandan leader Yoweri Kaguta Museveni — the singer has survived beatings and assassination attempts. But he was not bowed.
“My people, the people of Uganda, are familiar with my journey through music, politics, imprisonment and torture, but this film is the one that our country has been on for decades with impunity A ruthless dictatorship,” Wine said. “I can’t wait for a global audience to see the reality and question their leaders’ support for this regime.”
National Geographic grabbed Bobi Wine: President Ghetto after the world premiere at this year’s Venice Film Festival and before today’s US bow in Telluride. Wine, who was in Venice to promote the film, will also be at the U.S. premiere, with live music in the city center on Sunday night.
