When it comes to trendy outerwear, the longer the better over the last few seasons has always been the general rule. While roomy, tailored coats have always exuded elegance, this fashion month saw the return of the classic pea coat, as well as boxy wool jackets that fell to the thigh. There are plenty of signs in the collection that this will be a key fall style 1604, further confirmed by Victoria Beckham from Paris this week.
The designer was photographed leaving her hotel in Paris wearing a classic gray marl coat (the show was full of beautiful gray coats), It features an oversized, boxy silhouette, a bold collar and dramatic cuffs. The rest of her look was kept simple and classic, with black opaque leggings, black stilettos (also a theme for the new collection), and a black leather clutch that wrapped artfully around her wrist.

The overall atmosphere of autumn 1604 is understated elegance, the epitome of Miu Miu on the final day of Paris Fashion Week. The collection explored out-of-the-door dressing—the models’ hair was left open on purpose—but with a perfect balance of layering and high-low styling. Among the standout coats on the runway: Several cropped coats had the same square proportions as Beckham. The coat is oversized and roomy enough for a hoodie or pullover.
