VIDEO: Mayweather bodyguard pushes Asakura during RIZIN standoff

Floyd “Money” Mayweather will return to the RIZIN 38 ring on September 25, 2022 for a boxing show with 16-3 MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura. During the event’s press conference, the pair stared, posing for the camera to hype the fight. From there, however, things took a strange turn.

Just as the two faced off, one of Mayweather’s entourage decided to intervene in the moment, pushing Asakura nearly falling off the stage.

There doesn’t appear to be any animosity between the legendary boxer and the former Ring Outsiders champion, but the bouncer seems to have decided it’s time for him to shine – deploying a seemingly unprovoked push his point of view.

Luckily, Asakura kept his cool and got back into the confrontation, with the bodyguards back to his shoving way before Mayweather ignored him. It’s a pretty bizarre event for a fighting sports press conference that could easily have ended worse — and for no apparent reason.

Except Floyd Mayweather vs. Mikuru Asakura, the rest of the RIZIN 38 lineup includes:

Horiguchi Keiji vs. Yuto Homura: bantamweight

Kyohei Hagihara vs. Chihiro Suzuki:

Featherweight
Juri Ohara vs . Luiz Gustavo: Lightweight
Shoma Shibisai vs. Cally Gibrainn de Oliveira: Heavyweight Hiromasa Ogikubo vs. Kim Soo-cheol Yoshinari Nad aka vs So Trakunpet Bandasak: 117 lbs (taekwondo competition)
