With a mission to connect different cultures and spread diverse voices, PhotoVogue has partnered with Aïda Muluneh, renowned Ethiopian photographer and cultural entrepreneur and founder of Addis Foto Fest (AFF) and Africa Foto Fair, to launch her Collectibles of The Crimson Echo .
Commissioned by End Fund as part of a collective photography project named
Rebuild END, The Crimson Echo highlights the impact of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) on individuals and communities. Along with six other African photographers, Muluneh works to reframe how we tell the stories of people affected by NTDs across Africa, and to create powerful accounts of NTD’s impact on gender equality, mental health, mobility and access to resources . The program features works by Ala Kheir (Sudan), John Kapalo (Mali), Meseret Argaw (Ethiopia), Mustafa Saeed (Somaliland), Sarah Wasiwa (Uganda), Omoregie Osakpolor (Nigeria). Drawing on creativity to advocate for social change in Africa through fine art photography and photojournalism, the exhibition offers an in-depth perspective on images that go beyond the typical images associated with disease in Africa.
