Welch said: “I spent time in Leicestershire Great time, but the opportunity to return to Edgbaston is something I couldn’t turn down. I’ve been fortunate to have been part of a successful Bears team in the past as a player and coach and am very excited about the challenge of building a bowling academy, This will lead to continued success for the club.”
Leicestershire responded quickly to fill the vacancy, appointing John Sadler, who Originally rejoined them as coach 21 last winter, before taking charge of first-team matters for the final three games of the 2017 season with Graeme Welch. Sadler and Paul Nixon, Leicestershire’s new coach who played for the same Foxes, were key members of a team that had the most successful record in the country in its early years.
