The Chanel founder has a penchant for Asian flowers and wore a camellia corsage at her belt. Along with the Dior rose and the Schiaparelli buttercup, the camellia became a symbol of the Parisian fashion house, an icon Karl Lagerfeld adopted and reimagined when he was at the helm of Chanel . In his first 1984 fashion collection, they were prominently adorned hats and headgear, and are now a central adornment of the Maison’s High Jewelery creations and incorporated into its fragrance blends.
