Tokyo, October 19, 2022- (JCN Newswire) – Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Mitsubishi Motors) today held the world premiere ceremony of the compact SUV concept Mitsubishi XFC Concept in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The car will be on display at the Vietnam Motor Show 2022 from October 26 to 30.

The Mitsubishi XFC concept car concept is “to be the right partner for an exciting life” – a generation of compact SUVs that offer the practicality of an SUV such as powerful and imposing design, easy handling and ample cargo space performance, comfort including class-leading interior space, and handles heavy road rain safely and reliably, even on rough or flooded roads.

“We will sequentially launch new compact SUVs in ASEAN markets including Vietnam in fiscal 2023,” said Takao Kato, president and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors. “In the future, we plan to add an electric model to the lineup and launch it outside ASEAN. We hope to develop this model from a model for the ASEAN market to a global strategic model, making it a core model like a sales leader The Xpander crossover MPV.”

The Mitsubishi XFC Concept is a compact SUV that is not part of the current ASEAN lineup. It complements Mitsubishi Motors’ broad offering tailored for the ASEAN market – the Triton pickup and its derivative, the Pajero Sport mid-size SUV; the Outlander and Outlander PHEV mid-size SUVs; the Xpander and Xpander Cross crossover MPVs; and the Mirage compact hatchback and Its variant Attrage sedan.

Powerful and Imposing Design

The Mitsubishi XFC Concept Car adheres to Mitsubishi Motors’ design philosophy of “robust and ingenious” , combined with a compact and powerful imposing manner. The surface of the SUV is smooth, creating a continuous flow that begins with the three-diamond emblem at the front and extends to the sides and rear. This gives it a stylish and sporty shape to match the urban landscape of the ASEAN region. In addition, thanks to ample ground clearance and large-diameter wheels that enhance road handling on rough surfaces, the Mitsubishi XFC Concept exhibits both toughness and agility with authentic SUV styling that stands out in the outdoor scene.

Up front, the concept of Dynamic Shield, which expresses both performance and protection, evolves as the concept evolves. The L-shaped headlights on the upper part of the headlight unit are combined with the shutter-type daytime running lights (DRL) below to light up in the iconic T-shape, giving a sense of spaciousness. The sides of the body are made up of richly muscular surfaces, the sculpted front and rear fenders and character lines express the power and dynamism of the SUV. Like the front, the rear also features T-shaped taillights, creating a rear profile that accentuates its wideness and stability.

The interior offers ease of operation and comfort, a must for an SUV. The instrument panel adopts a lateral theme design, which makes it easier to perceive changes in the vehicle’s attitude when driving on rough roads, while also improving forward visibility. Meanwhile, a dynamic design that extends from the dash to the door trim, and a range of soft padding, gives a closed and protective feel for a safe and comfortable interior.

The Mitsubishi XFC Concept is designed for ease of handling , providing good forward visibility, easy perception of vehicle size, and smooth handling.
