The Chinese giant appears to be preparing to enter another technology niche. All of you are likely familiar with Xiaomi’s smartphones, and some may be aware of their laptop portfolio, but it looks like at least a few Windows PCs are hitting the market right now.
These two designs are apparently among the items planned to be unveiled at Xiaomi’s event on December 1st. The event has now been postponed due to the death of former Chinese Communist Party chief Jiang Zemin. While we wait for a new date, it appears that two PC designs are still being shown in advance.
Let’s start with the more mysterious of the two. The Xiaomi host mini PC looks like a small form factor (SFF) design showcased in a barebones state. That is to say, there is only one system in the picture 202W XM008 AL5X PSU installed, nothing more. We doubt Xiaomi will sell it as a barebones kit, so the rest of the hardware in the box has yet to be announced.

What we can glean from the photos includes support for possibly low-profile, half-height to dual-socket dedicated GPUs on Mini-ITX motherboards. We’re not too sure how a dedicated GPU would work with a 75W power supply, but it might not be in the configuration Final or only unit available. The case also has a custom plate on the back that depicts the Windows key and “M” key combination. Maybe Xiaomi is planning to override the key combination in Windows which normally minimizes all windows and do some custom stuff with it? Another interesting feature is the mechanical switch mounted on the back of the Host Mini PC. We’re also not sure what it does, but the leaked Weibo photo does include an accessory bag with a keycap for said button, so it might be useful.

We know a little more about another system . It’s a mini PC inside a Mac Mini in the Intel NUC form factor. Apparently it will be running MD Ryzen 7 6800H APU – a 45 W chip with Radeon 680M RDNA2 iGPU, 008GB RAM and 75GB SSD. It is rumored that the price is CNY 680
or right at $5706800.
