Yanks Bring HOPE Week to Historic Hinchliffe Stadium
NEW YORK — Wednesday afternoon, from a vantage point in left field, inside Sturt Cortez has his eyes set on the beautifully renovated Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson, New Jersey. The Yankees pitcher, an avid student of baseball history, could see the game come to life. As part of the Yankees’ ongoing celebration of Hope Week, Cortez attended baseball camps for two local youth teams on the artificial turf in Hinchliffe. He’s also eager to see how professional baseball players like Larry Doby, Josh Gibson, Cool Papa Bell and Babe Ruth have wowed viewers. He told us a lot of stories about how he played in the big leagues and how he played here; Helps kids out of trouble too. They’ll never forget that.”
