The Yankees have a deal to acquire left-handed reliever Caleb Ferguson in a trade with the Dodgers, a source told MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand on Monday. New York is sending lefty Matt Gage back to Los Angeles as part of the trade, per a source. The teams have not confirmed the move.
Ferguson, 27, posted a 3.43 ERA with 70 strikeouts and a 1.44 WHIP in 60 1/3 innings for Los Angeles last year. He made seven starts among his 68 appearances, all as a one-inning opener. He’s also posted a 3.43 ERA over his five-year career, all with the Dodgers.
Gage was recently claimed by the Yankees off waivers from the Astros, and he spent most of the 2023 season with Triple-A Sugar Land.
