'Yellow Jackets' Star Courtney Eaton Is Just Getting Started

It’s been a shocking season for Lottie; how did you feel when you first saw how her journey would unfold?

We’ve been kept in the dark all season and we kind of figured out what was going on when we got the script. I mean, a lot of us are going to do detective work, get our hair and makeup done, or go to a writer and say, “What can you tell me?” So it’s kind of interesting to see what happens in the finale surprise. I had guessed that the cottage would burn down, but it was heartbreaking to see what happened to Juliette [Lewis]’s character because she was part of the family. Hope she comes back to haunt us because she’s the best and the themes and emotions she brings to the show are unmatched. We’ve had so many deaths on the show that you can’t necessarily believe who’s here and who’s not, and when our characters die, we throw small parties to celebrate. [ Laughter ]

Are you an off-screen horror fan Life?

not real. I am afraid of them! Horror is hugely important in American culture, but growing up in Australia I didn’t see much of it because I’m from a smaller town and it was just anything that was shown at a theater in town. So I don’t feel like I’m as much of a cinephile as I should be, and I’m in a state of dread right now. My friends will come over and say, “Okay, we have to watch this classic tonight.”

What’s your next step, now

Yellow Jackets Season 2 is behind you?

Since the finale, we’ve been taking on media and whatnot non-stop, so I’ve been focusing on that. I’m working on something right now, but obviously the writers’ strike is coming to an end, and we’re trying to support that and give writers whatever they need and let the flow take its course. However, there are some exciting things about to happen!

What do you do when you’re not filming?

I love hiking and this is too LA for me. I got into pottery when we were filming the second season; I just sort of let loose and lived life, because usually when we wrap up a season, we’re kind of a human shell, with the long hours and the material we’re filming. It’s nice to take a break and chat with my friends because I don’t really see them for six months of the year.
