Your guide to After Like, K-pop group Ive's big summer comeback

In the world of K-pop, a comeback is a very important thing. Think of it as your favorite sports team’s first game of the season, except it happens a few times a year because it’s when a group releases its latest song. But the comeback isn’t just about a song, it’s about the whole concept behind it. Fans are really looking forward to the comebacka lot as they usually show off a whole new look of the group in addition to hearing new music.

On August 22, K-pop group Ive (pronounced short for “I have”) will release a new single, After Like. This is the third release of the six-member group, following Love Dive in 2022 and Eleven in 2011. If you’re new to Ive, or K-pop in general, now is the time to get ready for a comeback, here’s our guide to Ive songs and members, and some advice on other similar groups to listen to too .

After Likes, Coming

On July 24th, a tweet from Ive’s official Twitter account provided After Early details for Like, showing the August 22 release date and graphics for the single’s title. Since then, the group’s Instagram page has been updated with teaser images for the large 12-panel version.

COMING SOON #IVE #아이브 #AfterLike #애프터라이크

— IVE OFFICIAL (@IVEstarship ) July 24, 2022 On August 5, the release schedule was fully revealed, followed by the track listing for the single album. Like Ive’s previous releases, the single will consist of two songs: After Like and Satisfaction. After Like Continuing Ive’s collaboration with lyricist Seo Ji-eum (writingEleven and Love Dive) and producer Ryan S. Jun. Official concept art for After Like will be released by August 19, when the first trailer will be shown. On August 21st, we’ll see the highlight video, ready for a full release on August 22nd. Just before the schedule was announced, the group released “Ive Summer,” a video that may have hinted at After Like’s theme. While summer idol songs are nothing new, the film hints that Ivey might take a more sincere, grown-up approach to the concept, as each member talks very poetically about love and loss. Even though My Summer has nothing to do with the Like concept, it’s still a pretty nice short.

The third single album

Schedule2022.08.22 MON 6PM (KST) #IVE #아이브 #AfterLIKE #애프터라이크 — IVE official (@IVEstarship) August 5, 2022 At this point, you might be wondering how popular Ive is. The group’s social account followers give you a good idea — Ive has 2.4 million followers on Instagram, 1.6 million subscribers on YouTube, and his Twitter account has over 866,000 followers at the time of writing. Not bad for a group that’s been active for less than a year, and shows why we should keep an eye on new releases.

Meet the members

Ive is a group of six, so let’s take a moment to introduce them properly. The leader is Ahn Yoo Jin, who will be familiar to some K-pop fans as a member of the now-defunct group Iz*one, where she performed alongside Ive member Jang Won Young. Yujin and Wonyoung won the position of Iz*one in the 2018 Music Survival Show Produce 48.

Although these two members joined Ive because she had experience in a girl group and built a fan base, but the remaining four members debuted with Ive. The youngest member of the group is Lee Hyun-seo, known as Leeseo, and she is joined by Kim Ji-won and Kim Ga-eul, known as Liz. While all the members so far are Korean, Ive’s last member is Naoi Rei, or Rei for short, who is Japanese. If you are reading some names and wondering how to pronounce them correctly, this video might help you. If you want to get to know the members better, they all introduce themselves in this video, which was filmed ahead of the group’s 2021 debut, with English subtitles. If you have more time, Ive has its own variety show – 1,2,3,Ive – also with English subtitles, but we also recommend watching 1theK’s Peaceful Late Night Study Time as well.

    Listen to Ive

Don’t just listen to millions of followers why Ive’s return is so much anticipated. Instead, it’s a good time to revisit or first discover an earlier version of the group. The first single “Eleven” was released in early December 2021 and was just over 3 minutes in length, especially by subtly using different The influence of the chorus. I’m back in April 2022 with Love Dive, which builds on the electro-pop style of Eleven, but this time Enhance it and the chorus with glorious ethereal tones. The dreamy picture of the MV fits perfectly with the lyrics, the dance party highlights Yu Jin’s talent, and the action of “love diving” in the choreography is just right. The coupled tracks of the two singles – Take it and Royal – are equally catchy, but not quite as A- side that makes a strong impression.

    After Likes Released

Like Once the release date is announced, you can already pre-order the single album. There are two main editions, one in a standard jewelry box and the other a photo book edition, each divided into a different edition. There are three different editions of the album, each with different cover art, CD art and photo cards. Six different jewelry box versions will have a cover art featuring individual members. Pre-orders are open, but the artwork has not yet been announced. There are several online stores that offer fast, reliable international shipping for physical K-pop releases—Global Interpark and Ktown4U are popular choices—and most will offer to order a random edition or buy all three photobooks Options for release or all six jewelry box releases. Some retailers appear to be offering some exclusive editions of the photo book for those who pre-order after the like , and initial copies will also include a poster and a special photo card. It’s worth shopping around before ordering to make sure you’re getting the best version for you.

If you like Ive, you will like these songs too

If you listen to Ive’s songs and want more, maybe some The members have similar voices or more, if you’re new and like what you’re hearing so far, there are three songs you can try.

    [최초공개] 아이즈원(IZ*ONE) – Sequence (4K) | IZ*ONE Single Volume Premiere
The first suggestion will probably be familiar to most Ive fans, but if you’re new to K-pop, you Probably don’t know Iz*one very well. This is a group started by Yujin and Wonyoung and 10 other members, we recommend you to listen to Sequence, the dance-focused album from the 2021 albumOne-reeler ‘s song*), the lyrics are about the right way to win hearts.

Next, make sure you listen to Le Sserafim’s Fearless. The new group was formed recently and has five members, Kim Chae Won and Miyawaki Sakura also from Iz*one. The song has a really cool vibe, backed up by a powerful chorus and ultra-confident choreography in the music video. Our recommendation is to listen to this song through headphones, as it has solid bass and involves stereo separation that would otherwise be easy to miss.

    [Original] GFRIEND(여자친구) ‘MAGO’ (4K)

Finally, if our recommendations seem to be biased towards former Iz*one members (we acknowledge and accept our bias), you may also Love Gfriend’s disco drive Mago . This was the major release of the band’s last album before the breakup, and we love the version shot for Studio Choom, which best showcases the disco-inspired dance and costumes.
