Damn headlines, Zuhair Murad’s clients crave pink Color – This shade works so well for Resort that it’s back in vogue in spring, with solid colors, sunset tones, and prints inspired by natural wonders, like Peru’s Rainbow Mountain or by German aerial photographer Tom Hegen Zagros Salt Dome.
But while Murad’s silhouette may have been inspired by the wind-sculpted rock formations of ancient times, the couturier’s thread is physical and spiritual free. For spring, he channeled the mood with new fabrics and treatments, such as micro-pleated printed organza with lace at the neckline, or other understated draping and pleated satin.
The designer also drew an equation between flou and liberty, and the embellishments he made up in the mix, such as combining lacquered lace with Mesh panels, mix chiffon with stand-up lace, or – a little more conservative – embellish a flowy beige gown with 3D flowers from re-embroidered silk thread. And, in the name of liberty, Murad has even jumped on the bra bandwagon — it’s not his usual style, but the designer doesn’t have a clear idea of what his young base wants to wear, then anything Not any more.
For evening wear, the skirt is shaped to the body and the cut is trimmed with rhinestones. A black jacket with a well-cut front and an open back. A fuchsia taffeta jacket embroidered with tonal flowers is worn with the matching shorts. Hanging from a draping white knitted dress was a new totem imbued with symbolism: a golden phoenix rising from the ashes.
